HOTEL DESCRIPTION
This elegant and refined hotel in the heart of the city of Sorrento is situated on a cliff top above the sea, overlooking the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, and set within a large, historic park with an assortment of exotic plants, marvelous camellias, and orange and lemon trees.
Built in 1898, the Grand Hotel Royal was a hotel built for the aristocracy, who flocked from all over Europe to enjoy grand gala evenings on the terrace high above the sea. Though the hotel was renovated after an earthquake in 1980, it retains all its 19th century charm - the interiors maintain the elegance of the past with original pieces of antique inlay wood furniture. In the entrance hall guests will be amazed by antique carpets, refined marble staircases, and Murano crystal chandeliers.
Guests will also find plenty of opportunity to relax: a private beach with a typical Sorrentine platform is accessible by lift from the hotel, and the swimming pool on the edge of the cliff is equipped with a large sundeck and jacuzzi. The Mediterranean rooms are equipped with all the modern comforts and have views overlooking the sea or the gardens.
